Let Me Boast!
by George Haack Osei Mensah
I`ve done a lot. Haven`t I?
My branches continue to branch further into tiny branches.
As the generations pass by, I wither. Soon the rainy season comes
and I gain my beauty again.
My roots continue to extend further down the earth.
My seeds are dispersed to countries like USA, UK, Germany, Italy
and even to the distant countries like Ukraine, Japan, China and
even the unseen and unheard places in the world.
What I only cry of is; will these seeds of mine ever remember
me when they go far away and they begin to grow there?
I have the course to boast because I`ve done a lot.
You listening to me today, all that I say to you is always remember
MOTHER TESCO; the mother of all TESCANS.
All that I`m boasting of is you but you don`t make me feel so.
Have I done something wrong? Just tell me so that Rev Enuson can
do something about it for me.
I know some of you out there care a lot about me. I say a big
thank you for making me proud and making me aware of the fact
that I didn`t feed all those beans and gari on people who have
no emotions.
Still There
by Edward Ulzen
the old school is still there it looks painted and all
the assembly hall is now complete
but the mural from twenty years back
is still on its wall
the old school is still there
but it’s not the same
there is no music
in these wall
no more fine arts
the school is still there
but it’s not the same
there is no music
just technical stuff
I’m thankful at least that
the old school is there.
