Tescan of The Week

Winston John Quasiegsts.net: So tell us Winston, what are you doing now (occupation wise)?
WJQ: I am now undertaking my graduate service at Tema Oil Refinery.

gsts.net: Interesting. Did it take you a while to get to where you are now (I mean lots of studying, hardwork, etc.)?
WJQ: It was just a matter of a course related field that got me to where I am.

gsts.net: Hah, then things did go real easy for you, didn't they? Bet they did (smiling). Right, have you got your own family yet?
WJQ: No.

gsts.net: I see. Tell us why you choose GSTS over all the other schools for your secondary education?
WJQ: Because of the hardwork and discipline enforced among the students and self respect.

gsts.net: You did not regret it, did you?
WJQ: I never regretted it and will never.

gsts.net: What year were you admitted into the school; were you there for O'Levels, A'Levels or both?
WJQ: 1985 for O'Levels

gsts.net: Did you hold any office when on campus?
WJQ: Sports Monitor and the Cabin Boss (cabin 7) of Kennedy House.

gsts.net: Did you enjoy being Sports monitor and Cabin boss?

WJQ: That was when we had our 80th anniversary parade where the then CO of 2BN raised the highest rank of the Cadet Corps to Captain for an excellent performance; fellas it was a delight to watch, the Motowners were jealous.

gsts.net: Is that right? Wow, thanks for that info. Now, what would you say was your worst moment on campus?
WJQ: That was when I was accused of "scattering" milk at the D-hall and I was punished to take Up & Downstairs D-hall my working plot. It was terrible.

gsts.net: Man, doesn't that bring back memories? I did a bit of "scattering" too during my last year on campus but I didn't go through any "job" for that (laughing). Anyway, what were some of the great moments of the school during your time on campus?
WJQ: Check Paul Ray out, clearing Solo in the 100 & 200m after Solo had won the heats. The quartet was wonderful and just check out the "Louis" Babes.

gsts.net: Boy, I remember that Paul Ray and Solo race. I can even picture that day now. It was like everything came a stand still that moment. Those were the days, but anyhow let's not get distracted. Do you remember any of the seniors who made your life "hell" when you were on campus?
WJQ: Yes, Crackerpintua, Sheleeshee, Matua and some more but just to mention a few.

gsts.net: Let's talk about the staff for a sec; did you have any favourite tutor/member of staff/etc. on campus?
WJQ: Yes, "VIM", COPPER RHULE and Nancy Hooper.

gsts.net: If you should know, Vim and Copper Rhule are now Assistant Headmasters of the school. So, were you a Day student or Border?
WJQ: Border.

gsts.net: During your time on campus, what house would say was full of bad boys?
WJQ: House 3.

gsts.net: During your junior years, what house did you avoid because of the seniors there?
WJQ: House 3.

gsts.net: So in summary, how would you describe your time on campus?
WJQ: It was really a place to learn, socialize, respect humankind and discipline was the conquering weapon.

gsts.net: Nicely put, Winston. You wouldn't go through those four walls without picking at least one of what you mentioned. Got any personal achievements to date that you'd like all Sechtechans to know about?
WJQ: With the above, I have gotten a better human relation and this has enabled me come this far in my pursuit for academic excellence not forgetting several positions I held in my hall of residence, Casely-Hayford.

gsts.net: Hmm interesting. Got any words of encouragement for all Sectechans out there?
WJQ: Ya, never give up in anything you do because perseverance and endurance actually lifts you up to where you want to be, nevertheless let the Lord be your shepherd.

gsts.net: Nice one! Don't we all need such encouragement? Hear this, guys, and be blessed! Now to the present students on campus following this interview, have you any advice them too?
WJQ: Yes, they should really aspire to be on top of the highest peak and learn with determination and all the zeal.

"Ya, never give up in anything you do because perseverance and endurance actually lifts you up to where you want to be, nevertheless let the Lord be your shepherd."

gsts.net: So, are you in constant communication with any of your classmates?
WJQ: Yes, Cowboy, Wakyekye, Tariq, Amonzihayes, Tosbilly, Weezo, Abujay and others.

gsts.net: I remember a few of those. Cowboy and I were actually in the same house (smiling). Do you have any classmates you'd like to say hi to?
WJQ: Coker, A'ure, Vialla, Kwame Johnson etc.

gsts.net: And now to my favourite question; What do you think of The GSTSnetwork?
WJQ: It is perfect! In this era of Info Tech, we need to be in touch with each other as I just gave the filla about this network to other Sectechans.

gsts.net: Thanks for spreading the word about the network. Guys, I'd like to encourage each one following this interview to do the same (spread the word) when you get the chance. Anyway, how is the future looking for you right now; being a single man, lots of experience, have a greeat job and all?
WJQ: I am not yet a family man but I think to future is promising.

gsts.net: Well Winston, thank you so much for time. There was a lot we could have caught up on but I guess this is all time will allow us for. Thank you once again.
